Strengthening community systems so adolescents and young people can access trusted health information, prevention services, and peer support.

Youth Plus Policy Network Uganda works with communities, partners, and young people to strengthen systems that support adolescent and youth health. Through community engagement, peer networks, and the DEEPROOTS model, our work connects young people with trusted health information, prevention tools, and youth-friendly services.
Our impact reflects the growing trust communities place in youth-led solutions and the importance of bringing services and information closer to where young people live.
Impact Snapshot

Strengthening Community Systems
Youthplus strengthens community systems that support young people by creating trusted platforms for information sharing, peer engagement, and referrals to services.
Through the DEEPROOTS model, communities now have structured access points where adolescents and young people can ask questions, receive guidance, and connect with prevention services. These platforms help reduce barriers to information and services while building trust between young people and health providers.
Community information kiosks serve as visible entry points for youth health information, while digital platforms and mobile outreach expand access beyond physical spaces.
Youth Leadership in Action
A core part of Youthplus’ impact comes from empowering young people themselves to lead change within their communities.
Following recent training, the DEEPROOTS network now includes over 60 Peer Community Advisors (PCAs) who serve as front line educators and connectors within their communities.
Peer Community Advisors help to:
- facilitate discussions on HIV prevention and youth health
- connect young people to services
- provide accurate health information
- create safe spaces for open conversations
This peer-led approach allows the organization to reach young people in ways that are trusted, relatable, and culturally relevant.
Community Reach
Youthplus currently operates across communities in Wakiso District and is expanding the DEEPROOTS network to new communities in Kampala, Mukono, and Kalangala.
The expansion of additional community kiosks will further increase access to prevention information and youth-friendly services in underserved communities.
As the network grows, more adolescents and young people will be able to access trusted information and support close to where they live.
Partnerships and Influence
Youthplus works with community leaders, health institutions, development partners, and national stakeholders to strengthen youth-focused health systems.
Through stakeholder engagement and learning exchanges, community experiences from the DEEPROOTS program have contributed to broader discussions on community-based HIV prevention.
Engagement with institutions such as the Uganda AIDS Commission has helped elevate the community kiosk model as a promising approach for reaching underserved populations and strengthening youth-friendly prevention systems.
Looking Ahead
Youthplus continues to expand the DEEPROOTS network and strengthen community systems that support adolescent and youth health.
With the establishment of additional community kiosks and the growing network of Peer Community Advisors, the organization aims to reach more communities with trusted information, prevention services, and youth leadership opportunities.
Through youth-led solutions and strong community partnerships, Youthplus remains committed to building healthier and more informed communities across Uganda.
