What We Do

Youth Plus Policy Network Uganda works with adolescents, young people and their communities to improve access to health information, services, and leadership opportunities. Through community engagement, digital platforms, and policy advocacy, we build practical systems that help young people make informed decisions and live healthy lives.

Our work is built around a community-driven model known as DEEPROOTS, which connects adolescents and young people with trusted health information, peer support, and youth-friendly services.

Our flagship model- DEEPROOTS

DEEPROOTS is a hybrid community and digital system that connects adolescents and young people with trusted health information, peer support, and youth-friendly services. The model operates through community information kiosks, mobile outreach, Peer Community Advisors, digital platforms, and advocacy initiatives that strengthen youth health systems.

How we create change

Our current work is built on the belief that adolescents and young people are more likely to make healthy and informed decisions when they have access to trusted information, supportive peer networks, and youth-friendly services within their own communities.

We work by strengthening community systems that connect young people with reliable health knowledge, prevention tools, and support services. Through community information kiosks, mobile outreach, trained Peer Community Advisors, digital platforms, and community dialogues, we create and enable multiple entry points where adolescents and young people can access information, ask questions, and receive guidance.

These activities help increase knowledge about HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health, improve access to testing and prevention services, and encourage positive health-seeking behaviors among young people.

Over time, this approach contributes to stronger community support systems and improved health outcomes for adolescents and young people, demonstrating how youth-led and community-driven solutions can expand access to prevention services and strengthen local health systems.
