We address the structural causes of poverty and inequality while strengthening the capacity of communities to lead their own development. Our work connects health, education, gender equality, youth leadership, climate resilience and social justice.
Community Health and Wellbeing
Through the DEEPROOTS platform, we strengthen community health systems by improving access to HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health and rights, psychosocial wellbeing, community health information and referral services. We work to reduce barriers facing women, adolescents, young people and underserved populations.
Women’s Rights, Youth Agency and Community Leadership
We advance gender equality and create opportunities for women and young people to exercise leadership. Our work supports youth agency, civic participation, community organising and positive masculinities, while strengthening the capacity of communities to engage public institutions, claim their rights and hold duty bearers accountable.
Education, Skills Development and Economic Justice
Through the LIFT (Learning, Inclusion and Futures Transformation) Education Programme, we promote equitable access to quality education as a pathway to opportunity and economic justice. LIFT focuses on inclusive access, learner-centred and innovative teaching, educator support, technology-enabled learning and stronger community participation. We are also developing the Community Micro Campus concept as part of our longer-term work to bring learning opportunities closer to communities.
Climate Resilience and Humanitarian Preparedness
We integrate climate resilience, environmental stewardship and disaster preparedness into community development programming. We also seek to strengthen local systems that can respond to public health emergencies, humanitarian needs and emerging community challenges.
Research, Innovation and Policy Engagement
We design and test community-led solutions that combine digital technology, evidence generation and local knowledge. We document lessons, generate evidence, support policy dialogue and contribute to learning that strengthens community systems and informs sustainable development practice.
Community-Led Delivery
Across our programmes, we invest in local leadership, trusted community structures, evidence-informed decision-making and partnerships that promote long-term resilience, accountability and social transformation.
